Blue Creek Rainforest Lodge
Nestled in the banks of Blue Creek is IZE Belize's private 200-acre rain forest preserve and wildlife sanctuary. Our rainforest lodge is a short 15-minute walk from Blue Creek village and is located next to a deep pool of clear water.
The rustic Blue Creek field station consists of a main lodge, dining area, and research library. Surrounding the lodge are several small guest cabins, and a sitting wooden dock bordering the creek.
Blue Creek is the only field station of its kind in Belize located in a true rain forest, offering students, educators, families and eco adventurers the ultimate Belize rainforest experience. It's also a great jumping off point for adventure, providing easy access to the Hokeb Ha cave system and the Mayan artifacts of Lubaantun.
Incomparable biodiversity
Breathtaking discoveries await you as you explore the pristine rivers, spectacular caves, lush rainforests and ancient mayan ruins located in this unique jungle site.
Enormous bromeliads, orchids, cohune palms, heliconias, and tenacious lianas entangle their way through the verdant landscape and hundreds of bird species abound, from the keel-billed toucan to the purple-crowned fairy.
The roar of the howler monkeys resonates throughout the forest, and bats, agouties, and kinkajous are all common place here.
Swim, snorkel, kayak, & explore
There's lots to do and explore in this remote environment. IZE Belize has several kayaks provided for your enjoyment, and you can swim right from the sitting deck overlooking the clear waters of Blue Creek.
Don't forget your snorkel gear and headlamps, as thousands of tropical fish inhabit the deep blue pools within the creek. Limestone caves with ancient Mayan artifacts are just a short walk from the field station.
